1958 Aston Martin DB MkIII

1958 Aston Martin DB MkIII recently out of 20 year ownership and just back from a back to metal repaint. It is finished in Original Elusive blue and freshly re-trimmed by Piper Trimmers in Yeovil with Crimson Vaumol hides and a pale grey headlining. These recent works have brought the cosmetics of this car into line with its exceptional mechanical condition.

This superb, matching numbers motor car on its original registration number also has the benefit of numerous recognised mechanical and suspension improvements all carried out during the last 10,000 miles, mainly whilst in the custodianship of the last owner. The engine was completely rebuilt in 2003 using modern forged pistons with new cylinder liners and stainless steel valve gear and the cylinder head was upgraded to run on unleaded fuel. There is also a noticeable increase in power over a standard car.

At the same time the suspension was completely overhauled using uprated stiffer bushing and Andron aircraft quality components. The front wheels have 1.5 degrees of negative camber which goes to the improved handling.  A full brake rebuild was also undertaken using new stainless steel front brake calliper pistons and a dual circuit system. The original steering box has also been replaced with a modern more efficient conversion with a two piece steering column. Numerous other improvements were also made at huge expense, all of which are detailed in the comprehensive history file that accompanies this car.

Other specification items include the essential Laycock-de-Normanville Overdrive, a larger capacity aluminium water radiator, an electric cooling fan, Aeroquip braded brake hoses, perfect chrome wire wheels, Stainless Steel twin exhausts, twin SU fuel pump, a new battery and a complete tool kit including an original Jack. Regular annual maintenance has been carried out by Steve Farthing of Wren Classics in Dorset who has many years of Aston experience, both in the maintenance and restoration of Astons for road use as well as the preparation and race support of Historic Race cars.

With the benefit of the aforementioned upgrades, this Aston Martin MkIII is quite exceptional and will undoubtedly give a new owner many years of motoring pleasure. £245,000
