2018 AC Hawk 289 Cobra

2018 Hawk Cobra 289 built to an unbelievably high standard by an electronics engineer and having received the 2018 Award from Hawk cars as being the Best Build of 2018. Finished in British Racing Green with contrasting Burgundy hide interior, everything to do with the build of this exceptional Cobra 289 recreation has been executed to such pristine standards, that we initially assumed that it was a fully restored original car when it first arrived at our premises. The Cosy yet functional interior has that late 50's auror about it and all the gauges are precisely positioned in the leather padded dashboard as per the original cars. The brake and clutch pedals are inscribed with the AC logo as are the top of the gear knob and the centre of the period looking dished wood rimmed steering wheel. From a safety point of view, the car has inertia reel seat belts and a Chrome Roll-Over bar with an additional removable diagonal brace. The car that has covered a mere 4,260 miles also has full weather equipment including snug fitting side screens, a mohair hood, Perspex wind deflectors and a full tonneau cover so that an enthusiastic owner can enjoy the car in all weathers. On lifting the bonnet, the quality continues and the skill of the builder of this car becomes even more obvious. The whole engine bay is spotlessly clean right down to the paint finish on the engine block and the authentic looking COBRA branded cam covers. The engine breaths through direct fuel injection using braided Aeroquip piping with a Sytec fuel pressure control, with 8 individual coil packs for maximum spark. The water header tank and screen wash container are both in polished aluminium and the car is fitted with an aluminium water radiator and an electric cooling fan. Other points of note are an engine immobiliser and an attractive carbon in line air filter. Not only does this car look purposeful but the driving of it is exhilarating. All three pedals are perfectly positioned to enable an easily achieved Heel and Toe action when changing gear and the 5 speed all synchromesh gearbox provides very smooth changes. The engine produces acres of power and yet can be nice and docile in traffic when required. Sitting on perfect chrome wire wheels and with the benefit of rack and pinion steering, this all adds up to a car that is a real pleasure to drive. The superb paint finish and the exemplary condition of the interior coupled with the exceptionally well-presented engine bay, would qualify this car to be highly placed in any concours competition. Not expensive at £62,500
