1969 Morris Mini Cooper S MkII

This magnificent, fully rebuilt 1969 Morris Mini Cooper ‘S’ MKII has covered just 282 miles since a full complete rebuild carried out by a Mini Specialist. We can also confirm this Cooper ‘S’ is an original RHD Home Market car that was built on the 2nd June 1969, leaving the factory on the 5th June finished in Black. The Mini was supplied new by Acton, London dealership Stewart & Ardern Limited and registered EHJ 326H in Southend on Sea on the 10th September 1969. Factory records confirm this Mini still retains its original engine number and is a matching numbers vehicle.

The MKII Cooper ‘S' was produced between September 1967 and January 1970 and according to the Mini Cooper Register, the MKII is arguably the best mix of MKI quirkiness and MKIII practicality. During the two-and-a-half-year production period, BMC manufactured a total of 6329 of these cars and only 689 were Morris Cooper ‘S' models built for the RHD Home Market. In total, less than 1500 Austin and Morris Cooper ‘S' cars were produced for the home market, making sure the MKII ‘S' is a relatively rare car. Furthermore, more Austin's were built, making the Morris Cooper ‘S' even more scarce. According to the register there are currently just 426 cars registered, a survival rate of 7% of the total production or 29% of the home market production. Making EHJ 326H even more special is the fact it still retains its original registration mark, original Colour of Black and is a matching numbers car.

This car had been off the radar for many years and thankfully is now contributing to the survival rate thanks to a major, comprehensive restoration by a recognized Mini specialist who have been in the business for almost 30 years. The Mini had been off the road for many years before coming into the hands of Minimine Ltd in Staffordshire. They stripped the Mini down to a bare shell and completely rebuilt the car, completing it in 2016 to a standard that would most certainly pick up a trophy at local show level. The body was restored as required, the shell fully painted in its original colour of Black, built up with new brightwork, a new interior and rebuilt mechanicals. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt, brakes, suspension and steering overhauled, wiring all replaced and the fuel and coolant system re-commissioned. Finished with all new rubbers, trims, gaskets, re-furbished wheels and brand new tyres, the Mini was back on the road by 2016 since when it has covered only minimal mileage.

The Morris Cooper ‘S' has covered just 150 miles since completion four years ago but has been treated to more recent extensive detailing, servicing, and maintenance. Having road tested the Mini we can confirm it drives exceptionally well with an outstanding rebuilt 1275cc original engine offering super performance. The gearbox is a delight with perfect syncromesh and the Mini handles beautifully and feels precise, tight, and truly outstanding on bends. There is no doubt this is a great fun to drive and we would encourage its next owner to get out and really enjoy this car. EHJ 326H presents beautifully with a first class, deep paint finish and a structurally outstanding bodyshell with stunning straight panels. Underneath reveals lovely, clean floors, lift the carpets and floorpans are fantastic, the boot area is stunning and the engine bay ready to win a show. The interior is first class with superb upholstery and the car is nicely detailed in every respect. EHJ 326H is a top-class example, a fantastic car to own, enjoy, drive and of course has the provenance that makes this is an incredibly desirable car. Furthermore it is competitivly priced at 34,950
