1997 Ferrari 355 Berlinetta
in Tour de France Blue

This beautiful 355 Berlinetta has been in the same ownership for the last 11 years where it has formed part of a private collection. It has been extremely well maintained and comes with a complete set of books in the original leather Ferrari  wallet  and has remained in excellent unmolested condition. The original tool kit is also with the car in its original leather case. Finished in Tour de France Blue, the car presents  in a much more conservative light and coupled with the light tan interior it is considered to be one of the best colour combinations. The F355 Berlinetta is a masterful piece of engineering and its impressive power and torque was achieved by adopting a new five-valve cylinder head. The car’s 3496 cc engine punches out 380 BHP and its blistering performance figures are the result of aerodynamic honing that focused specifically on the underbody. The two-seater 355 Berlinetta has an aluminium and steel body and its styling is moulded around an aerodynamically severe design that includes a full-body undertray designed to equalise downforce between the two axles. The cabin is designed with both safety and driving pleasure in mind and the seats and trim are finished in Connolly leather. The chassis is a steel monocoque with a tubular steel rear sub-frame for the engine-suspension assembly. Both front and rear suspension uses independent unequal-length wishbones and coil springs over gas-filled telescopic electronic dampers and also incorporates anti-roll bars. The steering is the rack and pinion system with power-assist, and optional mechanical gear. The brakes have self-venting discs and excludable ABS ATE. The 18” wheel rims are magnesium. The mid to rear situated 3496 cc 90° V8 engine is longitudinally mounted and punches out 380 bhp, giving it a specific power output of 109 hp/l. Distribution is by means of twin overhead cams with five valves per cylinder and the con rods are titanium, while the control unit is the Bosch M5.2. Dry sump lubrication and a six-speed plus reverse mechanical gearbox completes the picture along with a dry single-plate clutch.  This particular car is fabulous to drive and very sensibly priced for one in this condition at £72,500
