Description

1971 AC Hawk 289 Cobra

1971 registered AC 289 by Hawk retaining its Historic Vehicle tax exempt status.

This car was built specifically to be used by Gerry Hawkridge, the owner of Hawk Cars for a planned trip to the Le Mans Classic.

This superb example is finished in Pacific Blue with full black hide interior and the finish of the whole car is superb. Great thought has gone into the detailing of the car making it virtually indistinguishable from an original. It has chrome over-riders, P700 headlamps, correct front indicators, Chrome AC Badges, stainless steel windscreen wipers, Smoked sun visors, a removable 3 leg black roll bar, chrome fuel filler cap and Lucas LRD Cobra rear lights. Added to this the car is sitting on Turrino alloy rimmed 15” wire wheels with stainless steel spokes and AC Engraved spinners and nearly new Pirelli P Zero radial tyres.

The classic black all leather interior is completely unmarked, complimented with excellent quality black carpets. The padded finish dashboard with its array of correct Smith’s instruments and Lucas switchgear further compliments the interior of the car.

It is powered by an aluminium RPI Engineering supplied 4.6 long block V8 with Merlin stage four heads, a 4 barrel Webber carburettor with pressure regulator, an Edelbrock performance inlet manifold, chrome air filter, polished alternator, aluminium header tank and a large core radiator cooled by twin electric fans.

The superb Hawk chassis is complimented by tubular front wishbones, adjustable shock absorbers and disc brakes all round, Aeroquip brake lines and a stainless steel exhaust which sounds awesome.

It comes with full weather equipment, a mohair hood and solid side screens together with a mohair full tonneau cover.

To finish off the package, the car comes with a detailed photographic record of the build together with the original construction manual and numerous build receipts.

It has been a concourse winner at the Bexhill 100 and has taken part in various events such as the Circuit Ardennes. It is undoubtedly the most attractive recreation we have ever handled and is as clean from the underside as the beautiful body.

Unrepeatable value at £57,500
