1962 Jaguar MkII 3.4

This outstanding, largely original show class matching numbers Jaguar MKII has covered just 30,000 miles from new. The car was first registered on the 28th March 1963, supplied new in Opalescent Silver Blue with Dark Blue leather upholstery and spent its early life in Whitchurch, Shropshire having been supplied by local dealer Donald Yearsley. The Jaguar was rarely used by its first owner, and occasionally it would be driven to London to visit his brother. 870 EDM was stored for most of the time in the supplying dealerships showroom as the owner requested that Donald retained the car to display it in his showroom. Donald’s mother on rare occasions borrowed the car and he himself would take it for the odd run out to Old Trafford on a Saturday. In 1975 the supplying dealer bought the car from the first owner and it remained on display for many more years. We have a tax disc from 1975, stamped in Whitchurch and photographs of the car in the supplying dealer showroom.

By the 1990's the Jaguar had covered around 24000 miles from new and has been used annually covering just a few hundred miles per year, some years less. The last owner bought the car in 2013 and has covered over 1500 faultless miles in the car, its most regular trip being driven from South Yorkshire to Whitby in summer months. 870 EDM has arrived with us in outstanding condition and with the exception of a top quality re-paint and some re-chroming several years ago, appears completely original. The bodywork is exceptional with perfect panel gaps, it has never required any welding work, the panels are perfectly straight and the paint finish is first class with exceptional gleaming chrome work. Originally supplied new with steel wheels, the car at some stage has been fitted with chrome wire wheels and they are as new.

The interior of the car is beautiful, the condition is remarkable considering it is totally original inside. The leather has delightfully aged, the carpets are excellent, the walnut dash, door cappings, door cards, gauges and headlining are all in exceptional condition. The under bonnet area is original, detailed and top class, as is the boot compartment, boot mat and original tool kit. On the road this car drives as we would expect when just a few years old. Its wonderful on the road, the engine holds excellent oil pressure, all the running gear is in excellent order, overdrive is smooth and the car handles exceptionally well and has the advantage of recently fitted spax adjustable shock absorbers and a Harvey Baily handling kit. This car brakes and rides as well as one could expect for a sports saloon built 60 years ago. Finding another iconic Jaguar MKII like this, in such extraordinary condition, with such low mileage and in this very desirable colour combination will be incredibly difficult making this a really sought after car, rare find and collectors piece. Unrepeatable value at £59,950
