Description

1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage

1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage finished in Aegean Blue with New Connolly hide interior using Vaumol hides in Oatmeal with best quality, Navy blue, Wilton carpet throughout. Built in the second year of manufacture, replacing the ever popular but far more expensive DB5, made eternally famous by Ian Fleming’s 007 James Bond. The DB6 scores over the DB5 in many ways, not least of which as it is noticeably roomier inside, being able to accommodate the driver and 3 adult passengers in great comfort at a considerably reduced noise level.

This lovely Aston Martin DB6 Vantage had been in the same ownership for more than 30 years and is now only for sale due to bereavement. During his ownership the previous custodian made it his all-consuming hobby to have the car restored to a very high standard, but sadly he did not live to see it finished. We were fortunate to have purchased this DB6 Vantage where all the hard restoration work had already been done and we have now almost completed the job to the same exacting standards with just a few very small items left to do. The car has been the subject of a back to metal re-paint and benefits from a new Webasto sunroof with the head-lining in West of England Cloth. It is fitted the desirable 5 speed manual gearbox and since purchasing the car we have stripped and inspected the internals of the engine, measuring bore wear and bearing surfaces all of which showed only minimum signs of wear and then carefully reassembled the engine using all new gaskets. During this process, the cylinder head was also removed and the head gasket replaced and all of the exhaust and inlet valves set to makers clearances. Within the vast history file there is evidence of a previous complete engine rebuild and our strip down of the engine was precautionary rather than necessary.  After reassembly it holds makers oil pressure and ticks over like a Swiss Watch. Almost every other mechanical component has been replaced during the restoration as can be seen in the invoices covering a 30 year period. Now extremely good value for a fully Rebuilt Aston Martin DB6 Vantage that is ready to be enjoyed. Viewing is highly reccomended £295,000
