Description

1977 Ford Escort RS2000 Custom

1977 Escort RS 2000, the Mk. II version of which appeared in January 1975 with the first production models having rolled off the production lines on 2nd December 1974. Unlike the first Escort (which was developed by Ford of Britain), the second generation was developed jointly between Ford UK and Ford of Germany and code-named Brenda. The RS2000 version, specifically built for the performance market was an immediate hit, largely due to its incredible performance for what had started life as a small family car. During the second half of the 1970s, the Escort continued to prove hugely popular with buyers in Britain and Europe and after an incredibly popular run, production ended in Britain in August 1980 with other countries following soon after. Whilst we are not known for dealing in “Fast Fords” we are delighted to offer this superb example of this highly sought-after British Classic, first registered on 8th December 1977. Finished in original Midnight Blue, which is a 1978 colour, with correct black interior, this RS2000 Custom has been fully restored and has been completed to a very high standard only 3 years ago, with numerous invoices in the car file. It has only covered some 300 miles since the restoration and on driving this car, it becomes obvious it was not just a cosmetic blow over but a very careful restoration to a high standard with all the running gear remaining suitably tight. Supplied with a V5C registration document, together with a reasonable number of invoices and an Mot test certificate valid until 6th December 2024, and the car’s handbooks. This is a matching numbers example of one of Fords most desirable cars and viewing is highly recommended to fully appreciate the quality of this superb RS2000.
